PIB41 – Instagram: How To Create A Content Strategy
When creating a content strategy for your Instagram, there are three main things to think about: what to post on Instagram, when to post, and how to post them. Listen to today’s episode as I cover the tips and tools I personally use to create my own Instagram content.

Creating your own Instagram content strategy is one of the first steps you should take if you want to build your business on this platform. There are three basic concepts I talk about in episode 41 of the Passion In Business Podcast which are: What do you post, when should you post, and how do you publish those posts and schedule them out.
What To Post On Instagram
Your Instagram feed (found below your bio and link on your account) is an area that visitors to your profile will likely scroll through when they first visit — this is a great opportunity to show them what you and your business is all about and if you are worth their time and their follow. Below are some basic pointers when it comes to what you should post on your Instagram account.
- Vary your post types (professional, lifestyle, personal, quotes, entertaining, etc)
- Attach an emotion
- Be sure to use captions
- Be aware of image dimensions and how they will appear on your profile
- Use videos to increase engagement
When To Post On Instagram
When asked about when is the best time to post on Instagram, my answer is always the same. I go by two rules that I feel are best when it comes to when you should be posting.
- Check analytics on your account and post on the hours that your followers have previously engaged the most on
- When it is most convenient for you and your schedule (when the first option fails)
We all get busy, especially as business owners! So really it comes down to posting when you will actually have the time to! You can always set an alarm on your phone to remind you about updating your Instagram, but if you are in the middle of something during this time then you shouldn’t stress to much over it — Instagram isn’t going anywhere.
How To Post On Instagram
I suggest scheduling out your posts ahead of time. Even though Instagram does not allow any scheduling tools to be COMPLETELY automated, you can still schedule and write the captions of your posts so that when it comes time to publish, you simply have to copy and paste and you’re all done! There are many tools you can use to schedule your posts, my favorite two are:
